Moscow: His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem II- Patriarch of Antioch and All East – Primate of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church (Oriental Orthodox Communion) met with His Holiness Kirill- Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia on 10th November 2015 at Danilov Monastery, the official residence of the Russian Patriarch.
Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II was accompanied by a high-level Syriac Orthodox delegation. They discussed the current situation in Syria, Iraq and Middle East in general. Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II thanked Patriarch Kirill for the continued support to Syria and her people, particularly in the case of in the case of the abducted Archbishops of Aleppo, Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji.
The visit is considered to be historic as the previous visit by the Patriarch of Antioch of was made in 1988 when the late lamented Patriarch Ignatius Zakka Iwas visited Russia on the occasion of millennium of baptizing of Kiev Rus.
